Howe Glassworks Studio is now open at Howe Caverns and accepting reservations with their artists for glassblowing workshops, private lessons & more.
Howe Caverns is so excited to bring the fascinating experience of glassblowing to the region and proud that our workshops will bring unforgettable and personal hands-on experiences to our guests. Our Director and Master Gaffer Dorian Ordoyne will use all of her expertise and knowledge to bring this amazing art to the Capital District. What sets Howe Glassworks apart is that our studio promotes interaction and participation by our guests, versus observation.
Studio guests will work privately and one-on-one with an instructor to select a workshop. Guests will be guided through a step-by-step process to bring their piece to life. Howe Glassworks offers the opportunity to create gorgeous bowls, vases, ornaments for all occasions, paperweights and our popular Ashes to Art memorials for beloved family and pets. No experience is necessary and all skill levels are welcome. Our Private Lessons, also available by reservation, are designed for the enthusiast looking to learn the ancient art of glassblowing and the hobbyist looking to expand their knowledge and skill set. During your lesson(s) you will learn the fundamentals of glassblowing: equipment use, hot shop safety, color application, assistant skills, design and creation. Reservations for individuals, groups, and special events are available for ages 7-100+ by calling 518.296.8900.
